The Chicago Tannery District

The name of our company takes its inspiration from the Chicago Tannery District that had its heyday in the late 19th and early 20th century.  Of the dozens of tanneries that existed in Chicagoland at that time, Horween Leather Company is the only tannery that still stands and operates today.  The watercolor above was painted by a local artist from Columbia College here in Chicago.  It depicts the Horween Leather Company and a building to the right of it that was once a tannery as well.  When I saw the painting it made me think of those times.
The Tannery Row hopes to extend the tannery tradition in Chicago by making leather and leather products accessible to a diverse community of individuals and small businesses.  Thank you for your support.
